Carolyn Blayney has been an RN for 43 years. She started out as a new graduate nurse in the Pediatric ICU at Denver Children’s Hospital and transitioned to an Assistant Nurse Manager for a total of 9 years.
She worked in the BICU/PICU at Harborview Medical Center as a staff nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, and then Nurse Manager for a total of 24 years.
Her current role is the Clinical Operation Manager for the Burn and Pediatric service at Harborview Medical Center a Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma Center and verified Regional Burn Center. Her main focus is on Program Development, QI and Education.
She is Active in the American Burn Association and teach about burn injury locally, nationally as well as internationally. She teaches national courses such as Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) and Advanced Trauma Nursing Core (ATCN), Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC), Disaster Management Emergency Program (DMEP), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
