In a career spanning 33 years, Dr. Dea Kent has innovated clinical programs and has served as a mentor to many nurses. She is a well-published author, including books and peer-reviewed studies and articles, and is a frequently invited speaker at nursing, quality and leadership conferences. Her doctoral focus of decreasing amputations in diabetic patients by increasing the incidence of foot screening in primary care was integrated in some primary care practices at a large healthcare network in central Indiana, and that work has sustained and has resulted in an improvement in this dimension of care in those practices. She is a translator, frequently involved in developing and disseminating evidence-based practice solutions for nurses and other healthcare leaders. Dr. Kent is the current Immediate Past President of the WOCN Society and has served in many roles locally and nationally for the Society. She has practiced as a board certified Nurse Practitioner for 18 years, and is currently the Director of the Nurse Practitioner Program at Indiana University-Kokomo, Indiana.
