Jan Kottner is involved in skin research for more than 10 years. This includes large scale epidemiological studies, clinical trials and exploratory studies investigating skin structure and function from various perspectives. He has a particular interest in evidence based preventive skin care in nursing, aged care, and geriatric contexts which include incontinence-associated dermatitis and other adverse skin conditions like pressure ulcers. He is involved in university teaching since 2007 and published more than 100 peer reviewed papers in the field of tissue viability.
