Karen Lou Kennedy-Evans has been a nurse for 42 years, a nurse practitioner for 38 years and has worked in long-term care for the last 37 years. In 1974 she became the very first family nurse practitioner in Fort Wayne, Ind. Her experience in the long-term care setting has gained her much experience in pressure ulcers, incontinence, death and dying, bariatrics, non compliant patients and Alzheimer’s disease. She was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the NPUAP for the next three years and also was appointed adjunct faculty for the University of Arizona, School of Nursing.
