Sandy Hughes RN, MSN, CWOCN is a member of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN®). She has held numerous leadership positions within the society, at both the national and regional levels. Ms. Hughes is also a content validator and peer reviewer for the WOCN®. Sandy works with her co-presenter, Lauren Harney RN, BSN, CWON, at Boston Medical Center a non-profit 514-bed academic medical center in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the largest safety-net hospital and Level I trauma center in New England. The care they provide is focused on the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries, the care of the ostomy patient with a focus on the prevention of peristomal skin complications, incontinence-associated dermatitis, and medical adhesive related skin injuries. It is also one of the most culturally diverse and indigent medical centers in the country.
