March is Patient Safety Awareness Month, and this month the Education Committee invites you to join the conversation to examine patient safety through a critical—and sometimes uncomfortable—lens: medical malpractice in wound care.

Program Overview: This multiple case series analyzes malpractice claims related to wound care, highlighting recurring themes such as delayed diagnosis, inadequate assessment, failure to follow standards of care, and documentation gaps. The cases underscore how system issues, communication breakdowns, and missed opportunities for early intervention can lead to patient harm-and legal consequences. 

Learner Outcome: Following this activity, 95% of learners will report increased knowledge and intent to apply risk mitigation strategies in wound care practice including improved documentation, timely escalation of care, and adherence to evidence-based standards to enhance patient safety and reduce malpractice risk.
