Program Overview: Appropriately managing pain is a key component of wound care. Poorly managed pain often results in patients not following a plan of care, which can delay wound healing. This session discusses how pain works, how best to assess pain, and a variety of prescribing options for medical management. Woven throughout the presentation are various tips on how to have a discussion about realistic pain management and balancing patient expectations with goals of care.

Learning Outcome: The learner will report increased knowledge of pain management options for wound care patients and apply it in direct patient care.
