Henry Okonkwo is the Chief Operations Officer and the Chief Clinical Officer of Skilled Wound Care Surgical Group and he is also the co-founder of the College of Long Term Care. He is a Surgical PA and Surgical Wound Care Specialist and has nearly 16 years of health care experience in the fields of wound care, general, trauma, and vascular surgery, internal medicine, family medicine, and dermatology. Mr. Okonkwo is also an author of many publications, he has presented previous research findings at national wound care conferences and most recently has written and published a textbook: "The Atlas of Wounds, Ostomy, and Skin" and has also created multiple phone apps, most recently: The Wound Atlas Pro App for Apple and Android Phones. He is also a dedicated passionate teacher and leader for Skilled Wound Care Surgical Group, having educated and trained hundreds of doctors, PA’s, and NP’s and thousands of nurses in various aspects of wound care and clinical care.
Henry Okonkwo has in-debt knowledge of the pathophysiology of wound occurrences and healing. Understanding the biophysics of tissue deformation and the pathophysiology of tissue injury and cellular response to injury. Mr. Okonkwo has spent over 10 years researching, studying, and teaching about pressure injury prevention, treatment, and management.
He is an expert on SNF-based government regulations and speaks nationally on CMS updates. He provides legal case review and consulting for hospital and SNF-based wound care defense cases throughout the US. Mr. Okonkwo is a passionate advocate for the advancement of skilled nursing facilities, wound care management, and improved quality of care for our patients.
