Designing Solutions for Creating a Culture of Safety for the Patient and the Nurse

Date: October 18, 2017

Time: 01:00PM - 02:00PM

You must be registered to participate!

Session Description:
This session will address how intense or prolonged pressure seen with immobility can lead to deep tissue pressure injury. Gaining mobility for patients can lead to back and shoulder injury in the caregiver, however. Building a resilient culture for sustainable change will be addressed, along with a focus on skin and safe patient handling to reduce pressure injury.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this webinar, the participants will be able to:

  1. Identify ergonomic risk factors for work related patient handling injuries, and strategies to develop an interprofessional program that addresses early mobility/safe patient handling/pressure injury prevention and fall prevention.
  2. Describe safe patient handling strategies that reduce the intensity and duration of pressure and shear on the skin and soft tissue for bedridden and early ambulating patients.

This webinar is supported by an educational grant from Sage Products.  The WOCN Society does not endorse specific products or services.
