Session Description:
Reducing complications and readmissions is a key metric for all surgical care providers. Currently, we have a description of the problem in the literature, but few solutions. This session will address the scope of the perioperative problem with complications and specifically look at the challenges in new ostomates. We will also review and explore the work that has been done to reduce readmissions.

Learning Objectives:

• The participant will be able to consider patient education and engagement as primary focus for impacting patient outcomes in new ostomates.
