The WOCN Society’s new decision support tool provides long-awaited guidance to bedside clinicians as they determine interventions following indwelling urinary catheter removal in acute care. This interactive session will provide the attendee with experience in the practical application of the tool using a variety of case scenarios that direct them to different pathways. Participants will gain the confidence and competence required to immediately begin teaching others how to use this tool and improve outcomes for patients post catheter removal.

Learning Outcomes: Following this activity, learners will report in the post-activity evaluation that they have increased confidence in their ability to recognize the clinical presentation of an abscess, and name a minimum of three potential underlying causes & to identify appropriate work up, local and/ or systemic treatments.

Learn Today
1. Learners will understand the WOCN iPCaRe decision support tool as guidance for bedside clinicians post indwelling urinary catheter removal and locate on a portable electronic device
2. Learners will describe 5 Best Practice options for bladder management
3. Learners will recognize clinical situations for which indwelling catheter removal is not indicated or when reinsertion by a provider is indicated

Use Tomorrow
1. Learners will introduce the iPCaRe decision support tool to bedside clinicians
2. Learners will consider options for bladder management post catheter removal and evaluate or revise existing product options available in their facility
3. Learners will provide discharge planning instructions for bladder management in the post-acute setting
4. Learners' patients will have decreased incidence of incontinence associated dermatitis (IAD) in the post-acute care setting
