Program Overview: This session will present research findings related to understanding quality of life outcomes and long-term adaptations in survivors (> 5 years) of rectal cancer and other diseases who are living with an ostomy.
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this educational program, the learner should be able to:
Describe the determinants of QOL outcomes for individuals living with an ostomy.
Realize the greatest challenges and persistent ostomy-specific issues reported by survivors with ostomies.
Evaluate evidence-based strategies that are currently being tested to support patient’s positive adaptations to ostomycare.
