This session discusses evidence based management of indwelling catheters in Long Term Care and Home Care. Specific discussion of the unique problems that occur in these care settings will be highlighted and how a WOC nurse can problem solve in reducing these catheter associated complications.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss proper evidence based indwelling catheter management  specific to LTC & Home Care
  2. Cite common catheter associated complications in this setting and how to problem solve to reduce these complications i.e. CAUTI’s, inappropriate use, staff related issues
