Description

This session will include the patient selection for undergoing a cystectomy and the creation of an ileal conduit, neobladder and/or continent urostomy. The surgical technique, pre and post-operative patient care as well as long term outcomes will be covered. The post-surgical follow up for cancer surveillance as well as the survivorship care plans will be presented.  

Objectives:

  1. Describe the indications for selection of a urinary diversion for the patient with bladder cancer
  2. Discuss the outcomes for the patient who undergoes an ileal conduit, neobladder or continent cutaneous diversion
