Biofilms have been shown to be resistant topical antimicrobial agents and standard antibiotic therapies. This symposia will provide an overview of critical factors that contribute to the increased tolerance of biofilm bacteria to antibodies, antibiotic and antiseptics and effects of topical wound treatments on biofilms. The presenters will review current evidenced base research as well as case studies including assessment, treatment and evaluation of suspected wound biofilm and clinical outcomes.
