There is a confusing array of wound dressings which contain collagen, some which are acellular, and some which may be classified as biologic skin substitutes. Some newer dressings contain collagen from human, porcine, and ovine sources. Other dressings contain "dermal matrix". In this session, I hope to clarify the composition and use of these dressings, and review the available research.
