Description

This session will provide information on general radiation therapy information, types of radiation therapy, adverse effects (acute and long term) in patients who have colon/rectal cancers/ostomies. This session will also provide tips for nurses in caring for these patients long term and the changes that occur.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe general radiation therapy, purpose, adverse effects in patients undergoing radiation therapy.
  • List one acute and one long term complication in the patient who has undergone radiation therapy.
