Description

This session is a panel discussion. An American and a Canadian Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse will discuss the similarities and differences between practice in each country and outline opportunities for collaboration and further discussion. Highlighting the roles of the Canadian Enterostomal Nurse as well as the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the process of identifying the WOC nurse specialty professional roles and unique practice attributes via the certification process
  • Identify the various practice domains of each WOC specialty
  • Identify similarities and differences between national/provincial/state health care systems for the WOC/ET practice
  • Understand the similarities and differences in wound, ostomy and continence practice between the two countries to facilitate a dialogue between practitioners and associations to learn from and support each other's work
