Description

This presentation will focus on role of the pelvic floor in maintaining urinary and fecal continence. Current research on the structure and function of the pelvic floor will be reviewed, as well as how pelvic floor dysfunction can negatively impact bladder and bowel health. Research examining the effectiveness of pelvic floor muscle training in preventing incontinence will be discussed.

  • Promote continence health based on an understanding of the role of the pelvic floor in maintaining urinary and fecal continence.
