Individuals may experience high stomal output for several reasons. This may result in readmission with dehydration and/or kidney injury. Preventing readmission and preserving kidney function in these patients requires accurate recording of daily stool and urine volume. The purpose of this webinar is to provide clinicians with tools to develop individual treatment plans in order to maximize hydration and nutrition absorption, and in so doing, prevent kidney injury and improve quality of life for these patients.
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this educational program, the learner should be able to:
Identify the potential complications of high stoma output.
Apply step-by-step interventions to maximize both nutrition and hydration status of the individual with high stoma output
