This session will provide the attendee with an historical perspective on the use of convexity in the management of a patient with a stoma. To understand where we are now with product choices, it is important to step back and review the evolution of various shapes of convex pouching systems. We will examine types of convexities including degrees of convex products, location of the convexity and stability (hard soft light rigid) of convexity. Case studies will illustrate the use of convex products in management of the patient with a stoma.
