Program Overview: Beers Criteria Update was released in early 2019 to reflect potentially inappropriate medications for older adults. This session will review red-flag medications that may be used in persons with wound, continence and ostomy issues. Real world case studies will be reviewed and evaluated through audience participation.
Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this session, learners will provide responses on the evaluation which indicate increased knowledge of how to identify potentially inappropriate medications by consulting the updated Beers Criteria to decrease adverse drug reactions or adjust prescribing (for the advanced practitioners) or recommend safer alternatives.
