This course provides insight into the problem of pressure injury development in the critical care population in the United States as represented by the results of the 2018/2019 International Pressure Ulcer Prevalence (IPUP) survey. The course describes implications for practice derived from analysis of IPUP survey data including population-specific risk factors for pressure injury development, standards of care for pressure injury prevention in critical care, as well as unique challenges affecting preventive efforts in the critical care setting.
