W308 - Wound Debridement as a Component of Wound Bed Preparation

Standard: $5.00

Description

Wound bed preparation is an organized approach to the management of open wounds to accelerate endogenous healing or to facilitate the effectiveness of other therapeutic measures. The presence of devitalized tissue, exudates and biofilm are impediments to healing that must be resolved. A critical component of this platform of treatment is debridement. Wound debridement can be accomplished through a variety of methods used singularly or in combination including sharp, mechanical, enzymatic, autolytic and biologic. In this session, we will discuss the various methods and the assessment based drivers to guide choices based on wound characteristics and resources available.
