Dr. Theresa Hurd, ACNP, RN, MScN (Community Health Nursing), MScED, PhD in Health Policy and Education, has guided nursing practice for over 35 years with widespread and varied experience across wound care, critical care (trauma), chronic disease management, and oncology nursing. Dr. Hurd also holds a professorship in the graduate nursing department with a cross appointment to sciences, advanced pharmacology, and pathophysiology. She is a published author and has guided nursing practice across organizations within acute care, critical care, and the community setting in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She has held a research appointment in a large county hospital in the United States and has guided practice in that level I trauma center. Dr. Hurd has successfully worked with many community nursing organizations and has guided practice, indicators, efficiency, and outcomes with wound care. Currently, Dr. Hurd works at Catholic Health System in upper New York State as Systems Director of Inpatient Wounds and Diabetes. Dr. Hurd is an international keynote speaker and presenter at conferences, education days, and other events throughout the world. She brings with her many years’ experience in the development of in-depth adult education training programs for highly technical subjects and successes with private sector and public sector organizations in Canada, the United States, Europe, England, and Australia. She is a world-renowned speaker and educator and a passionate advocate for patient rights and for nursing leadership and empowerment.
