Katherine N. Moore PhD, RN

Dr. Katherine Moore is a Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Nursing University of Alberta. She was Associate Dean of Graduate Studies in the Nursing Faculty and held throughout her University career held an Adjunct Clinical appointment with the Division of Urology, University of Alberta. She received her nursing qualification from St. Paul’s Hospital Vancouver BC, worked in cysto and the OR in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and eventually found her way back to university to do a MN on intermittent catheterisation and then a PhD on incontinence post prostatectomy. She began a long and fruitful association with UK colleagues evaluating continence products when she did a post-doctoral fellowship at King’s College London UK.

Dr. Moore was editor of JWOCN 2001-2005, is an ex-Trustee of the International Continence Society and an active member of several continence related scientific committees. Most recently, with colleagues Alan Cottenden and Mandy Fader, she co-edited the 6th International Consultation on Incontinence (ICI) Chapter on Conservative Management of Incontinence. She has authored many publications, book chapters and Cochrane reviews. She is most proud of being co-author of 2 nursing books, one with Dr. Mikel Gray and the other with Dorothy Doughty. In 2015, Dr. Moore was invited to become a Visiting Professor at the University of Southampton, England working with her colleagues and friends who are doing cutting edge research on products for continence. It is the work at Southampton that Dr. Moore will present at the Domtar Symposium.
