Mrs. Leanne West MS

Principal Research Scientist and Chief Engineer of Pediatric Technologies, Georgia Institute of Technology

Leanne West is the Chief Engineer of Pediatric Technologies at the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT). She serves as the technical liaison between GT and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Ms. West works with Children’s to identify technologies that allow Children’s to take better care of their patients. She runs the Quick Wins program, which funds solutions to clinician-driven problems in 18 months or less.

Ms. West serves on the executive management team of the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience and on the Institute for People and Technology health team. She has served as the twice-elected Chair of the GT Executive Board and is currently the GT Chair of the State Charitable Campaign. She was recognized as one of Georgia’s “40 Under 40” in 2004, Leadership Georgia in 2008, the International Optical Society 2012 Paul F. Forman Engineering Excellence Award, GT’s Outstanding Achievement in Research Enterprise Enhancement in 2014, and was Women in Technology’s Woman of the year in 2014. She also started her own company, Intelligent Access, to take her invention of a wireless personal captioning system to market.
