Carolyn Watts had served as a faculty member at the Vanderbilt University Schools of Medicine and Nursing for over 36 years. She has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist and board certified wound, ostomy nurse for over 30 years. She is a well-known speaker regionally, nationally and internationally. She has expertise in wound, ostomy and surgical oncology nursing. She has published in peer reviewed journals, authored book chapters, and developed nursing education programs. She has focused on the prevention and treatment of pressure injuries, providing wound care, especially in the oncology patient population, nursing education on pressure injury prevention and treatment, moisture associated skin damage and medical adhesive skin damage. She has been a leader in her WOC specialty over 30 years and has served as President of her local WOC nurse association, participated on and chaired WOCN Society® committees, served as Board member, Treasurer and is a Past President of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society.
