John received his degree in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1993. He received his initial lymphedema certification in 1998, advanced certification from the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) in 2001 and attended the first English-language advanced lymphedema course at the Foldi Clinic in Germany in 2002. He began instructing with the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy in 2006 and was a member of the LANA Board of Directors from 2009 - 2012. He has developed successful lymphedema clinics at three separate hospitals and has spoken on lymphedema issues at conferences for the Mid-Atlantic WOCN Society, the Northwest WOCN Society and several WOW conferences as well as a presentation to hospital staff in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
