Dr. Laura Edsberg PhD

Dr. Laura Edsberg is Professor of Natural Sciences and Director of the Center for Wound Healing Research and the Natural and Health Sciences Research Center at Daemen College in Amherst, New York. Dr. Edsberg is a past-President of the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel. She has written numerous articles and chapters about the microstructural and mechanical properties of pressure injury tissue. Her work examining the histological changes in tissue is ongoing and she is currently evaluating tissue from suspected deep tissue pressure injuries (DTPI). Dr. Edsberg was awarded the Kosiak Award for her work in the field of pressure injuries. Dr. Edsberg’s research is focused on the proteome of healing and non-healing wounds. Currently her research group is working to identify biomarkers associated with healing in wounds.
