Donna Thompson has been a Continence Nurse Practitioner for over 20 years in multiple health care settings and is currently employed as nurse practitioner for a highly regarded urogynecology practice at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has been a speaker for a number of regional and national WOCN conferences as well as for SUNA, GAPNA, ICS and other professional groups presenting on urinary and fecal incontinence. She has been an active member of WOCN serving on the Consensus Panel for BWOP, Task Force member for revision of the "Role of the Continence Nurse" update, and task force member for the Scoping Review of Intermittent Catheterization. She has a number of publications in JWOCN and Urologic Nursing, a chapter in the SUNA Core Curriculum on Geriatric Urology, a pending chapter for the updated WOCN Continence Core Curriculum and has been a regular contributor to the “Getting Ready for Certification” columns in JWOCN on incontinence. Donna is a past president of the WOCNCB, and current member of the Board of Directors of SUNA.. She was the 2014 recipient of the Rodney Appell Continence Champion Award from NAFC and the recipient of the 2018 SUNA President's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Urologic Nursing.
