Virginia Hanchett is the Program Director and Senior Nurse Practitioner at “UR Medicine Ostomy Services” at the University Of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. She has 24 years of experience in the field of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing and 15 years experience in medical dermatology. She has proudly been employed at the University of Rochester Medical Center for over 35 years and for the past 8 years she has focused on the well being of ostomy patients throughout the continuum of care with long-term management being her love. Her true specialty is the interdisciplinary co-management of ostomy patients with complex medical and dermatological diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, IBD, cancer and wound management in the parastomal region. Ms. Hanchett is also a co-author of the WOC Core Curriculum chapter on Parastomal Complications.
