Dr. Katherine Zimnicki DNP, RN, ACNS-BC, CWOCN

Dr. Kate Zimnicki received her BSN in 1979, her MSN in 1987 and her DNP in 2012. She is a Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS-BC) and has been a CWOCN since 1997. She has practiced in many settings and roles including as the lead CNS for the in-patient Wound and Ostomy Team at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Currently she is an Assistant Professor at Wayne State University where she teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate programs. In addition to her faculty responsibilities, Dr. Zimnicki operates an out-patient clinic at Henry Ford Hospital that is designed to meet the pre- and post-op needs of individuals with urinary and fecal stomas. Dr. Zimnicki has spoken at local, regional and national conferences on a variety of clinical and professional topics, and has published on topics related to end of life, wound care, and the preoperative management of the ostomy patient.
